Spock starring in a Pitney Bowes commercial.

Spock came back to us when he was 11 months old. We picked him up at the airport and fell immediately in love with him. He has become Joe's dog but is very happy to climb into anyone's lap and cover their faces with kisses. He has nice bone, a wonderful temperament and is an easy mover with very nice drive.

He has participated in several Meet the Breed booths including the AKC Meet the Breeds in New York City where he greeted over thirty-nine thousand people. He has happily gotten into showing with us. He earned his championship from the BBE class, including winning a 3 pt  major at the Newton KC show going Best of Breed over Specials.

Spock has been a favorite at Meet the Breed events with people coming back year after year to visit with him. He is also a movie star appearing in the short file Alternate Sides along with Bones and Gerry Bamman (Home Alone).

Spock was bred and co-owned by Eileen Durante of Celestial Mastiffs.

We’ve had a sad weekend here. We unexpectedly lost Spock. While I often said I wasn’t sure if he knew his name he was one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever had. We took him back from his first home when he was 11 months. Our original thought was we would hold him, evaluate him and see what kind of home he really needed. But he immediately bonded with Joe and it was clear that our house was where he belonged. I showed him in the bred-by class. We earned every point together except for his very last point. It was fitting that he earned his last point and his championship with Joe.

Everyday whenever anyone came home he would greet them at the door with the kong in his mouth. He would start to make a roaring howl sound that the kong would amplify in hilarious fashion. And we would yell back “SPOCK!” Which only made him roar more.

He loved the girls and would snuggle every chance he got. But if he wanted them up to play he was not above grabbing them by the shirt and yanking them right off the couch.

The house will be very quiet without him.
